July 3, 2024 -- Some People are Worth Melting For

Image
Centerton, AR  June 27 - July 3, 2024 Well it seems the word got out I just had a birthday, thank you all for the kind wishes!! Those emails made my day, you all mean so much to me!!❤️❤️ Highlights ▪︎     GUESS WHAT TEXT WE GOT FROM KIRSTY!! We had such a cool lesson with her on temples and families. After we left her fiancé came out, who had apparently been listening from another room. He got down on one knee and asked her to accompany him to the Courthouse to be married. He is so supportive of her and wants to be with her forever. Cutest thing I've ever heard🥹 ▪︎     Almost every day this week has come with a heat advisory, but as Sister Greene (and Olaf) put it, "some people are worth melting for" ▪︎     Reagen and Kenneth, my favorite Har-Ber people, are getting baptized this week!! ▪︎     President and Sister Collins just finished their missions, and now we have the Hathaway family! They got in a pretty crazy acciden...

June 26, 2024 -- Happy Trees

Image
Centerton, AR June 20 - 26, 2024 Okay so I just absolutely LOVE the people here. Plenty of those we meet knocking doors are not interested  at all  - but "hey stay cool out there", and "can I get you a water?" Whether its the ice cream truck stopping to give us free popsicles, member kids watching out the window to greet us, or fellow Christians telling us to keep doing what we are doing - there are just so many good people. Highlights! Met this cool group of friends at the park. We stood in the middle of the path with melting Popsicles in our hands as they talked and played us their original Christian music. And every time someone passed by they would abruptly leave the conversation to chase them down to ask "do you know Jesus loves you?" Then before we left they prayed for us, and we went away smiling. It took a minute before I turned to Sister Greene and asked: "wait... did she just cast demons out of you?" Yep. Only Arkansas people😂 ︎Had ano...

June 19, 2024 -- Weaponize the Primary

Image
Centerton, AR  June 13 - 19, 2024  Hello!! This week has been full of miracles, I am SO excited to work with Sister Greene, she is the cutest and such a good missionary!! That said, I very much miss Sister Brown. I've had such amazing companions - so blessed to know these sisters!! Highlights! •     We have got to spend a lot of time teaching kids this week, and it has been so much fun! You've got to be creative when you've got a whole group of restless children who need to learn about Jesus. As someone in our ward put it, we've got to weaponize the primary. •     Had some really amazing interactions on day one. Sister Greene was eager to jump in and has such a way of connecting with people. One of the first doors, we got to talk to Blake. He brought chairs out and we had such a cool conversation about God's love in his front yard. •     Our 5th church tour fell through, but we were there at the right time to meet a guy who came to ...

June 12, 2024 -- Forever NWA

Centerton, AR June 6 - 12, 2024 Transfer news!!😳 I am staying another transfer in Centerton!! That'll make 6 months here, and complete a year of serving in just these two areas in my little corner of AR. Not sure what the Lord is waiting for me to do, but I better figure that out.  I'll be living the TRIO life with Sister Short and a brand new trainee, Sister Greene! I'm super excited, but so sad that Sister Brown is leaving:( We have become so close these past 3 months. She just has the most lovable personality and I know she is going to be amazing in Monett. I'm sure gonna miss her!!🧡 Highlights/Happenings •     Met with this awesome new referral, Josh. We had an amazing lesson together, where we found out he is already a member haha. Seriously so cool though, he was just soaking in the spirit and loved it. He came to church on Sunday are he and Wyatt hit it off immediately! •     Met our sweet friend Holly again. Sadly, her friend came along ...

Jun 5, 2024 -- Revolutionizing the Work

Image
Centerton, AR May 30 - June 5, 2024 Hope you all are having a wonderful start to your summer! Summers here in AR are just as hot as UT, but dowsed in humidity. The Cicedas and greenery make up for it though, it is beautiful out here! Highlights! •     Spent another afternoon hauling trees in Bentonville! I learned 1.Many hands make light work and 2.Investing in a chainsaw is absolutely worth it. •     Ian was disappointed when we told them that he probably can't be baptized for George Washington, and then we had to dissuade Wyatt from getting on a platform and street preaching😅 It is one of his many ideas to revolutionize missionary work haha. We also told him that his original idea of putting cards on everyone's door doesn't always fill the chapel. I'm not sure if he believes us. •     We taught Kirsty the Word of Wisdom and she said she wanted to take it slow and over time. She has already overcome so much. Yet as we reminded her of h...

May 29, 2024 -- Trees are a Hazard

Image
Centerton, AR May 23 - 29, 2024 Crazy happenings in NWA this week. Our flatmates woke us up at 2am on Sunday after getting 4 calls from a member in their ward. Another tornado was coming or way, but this one was particularly bad. The wind was too loud to hear the city sirens, but the weather app told us to take cover now and Facebook was exploding with updates. So we started off our day on the bathroom floor with a mattress over our heads😅 Bentonville had a lot of storm damage: trees smashing houses, dangerous powerlines down, traffic lights flashing - it was a sight to see. And it was nothing compared to touchdown in Rogers. We spent the morning checking on friends, and took the Sacrament in a members home.  Since then we have joined various tornado relief service projects, and spent a lot of time hauling tree branches. The church sent funding for us to buy 24 chainsaws, and they were put to good use. It's been so cool seeing ward members all throughout the area organizing projec...

May 22, 2024 -- Fellow Princesses

Image
Centerton, AR May 16 - 22, 2024 Ian got baptized this week!!😆 It was such a special day for him, and he had great support from the Deacons and the ward. I am SO excited for him and his family🩷 Highlights! •     Got to back to my last area, Har-Ber, for zone Conference and saw our sweet member Jeanne! •     Got to talk to the sweetest single dad, Alex, out smoking meat with a pretty crazy contraption. He got emotional at the end, and told us to come back in 6 months after his surgery so he could sit down and talk with us more:) •     Nothing brightens my day more than hanging out with kids at member dinners! It's not every day that you learn about the "Wing Claw Bird", and are waved goodbye by a dancing princess. Quote for you: "I'm glad I'm not a bovine" - Bishop Hoyt We got to help Wyatt, and a few other recent converts learn about their family history and prepare family names to take to the temple. Shout out to Sister Morton, it is s...

May 15, 2024 -- Firefly Moments

Image
Centerton, AR  May 9 - 15, 2024 Hello!! Hope you all are doing well and looking forward to Summer!☀️Things have been good here, the work is hard but at the same time it is so worth it.  Highlights! •     Taught Ian the commandments complete with activities that he hasn't quite grown out of. I've never heard him laugh so hard as when his mom got up to join us in a round of head, shoulders, knees and toes. •     Nothing like eating spaghetti, planning a baptism, and watching the weatherman report incoming tornadoes with the Gerhardts. There might not be enough helmets in their closet, but there's room in the hallway if we need to hunker down😂 •     Nathan opened the door, and before we even introduced ourselves, he had given us his whole life story (and it was quite the story). We knew he'd talked with missionaries before but it still took us by surprise haha. Same thing happened with sweet Melva! I absolutely love that part of missi...

May 8, 2024 -- Shark Photography (Life Goals)

Image
Centerton, AR May 2 - 8, 2024 A position I didn't realize came with being a missionary is Therapist. Of course, we direct people to the best help and resources - but something about the name tag just allows people trust us with so much, and really open up. It has been amazing to watch all of their life stories unfold, .and help them see that God is there, and has been there all along. Behind every person is a story waiting to be uncovered, don't miss the opportunity to learn and love the individuals around you! Highlights! •     We were really struggling to decide what lesson to share with one of our friends, and as we went in we found out why. We ended up throwing our lesson plan out the window and sharing a talk we remembered nothing but the title of. It was such a cool lesson, the spirit truly can bring things to our remembrance! •     Met someone with what is probably the coolest job ever - shark photographer. •     Had this cat follow us...
