May 29, 2024 -- Trees are a Hazard
Centerton, AR
May 23 - 29, 2024
Crazy happenings in NWA this week. Our flatmates woke us up at 2am on Sunday after getting 4 calls from a member in their ward. Another tornado was coming or way, but this one was particularly bad. The wind was too loud to hear the city sirens, but the weather app told us to take cover now and Facebook was exploding with updates. So we started off our day on the bathroom floor with a mattress over our heads😅
Bentonville had a lot of storm damage: trees smashing houses, dangerous powerlines down, traffic lights flashing - it was a sight to see. And it was nothing compared to touchdown in Rogers. We spent the morning checking on friends, and took the Sacrament in a members home.
Since then we have joined various tornado relief service projects, and spent a lot of time hauling tree branches. The church sent funding for us to buy 24 chainsaws, and they were put to good use. It's been so cool seeing ward members all throughout the area organizing projects and uniting to serve with smiles on their faces. Everyone is eager to take care of each other, and I'm grateful to be a part of it.
Aside from that we have had some pretty cool lessons!
• Kirsty had all these unanswered questions about life after death, but felt she already knew the answers. She remembers her young daughter saying that everyone should have a place in Heaven, even the people who had hurt her, because maybe that's how they were raised and maybe they aren't bad at heart. But she didn't think that God would put them in the same place if she didn't feel safe with them. And she knew He wouldn't keep her from those that she loved. We were so excited to confirm what she already knew and testify of its truth. God's plan is one of perfect love!!
• Watched the DC temple tour with Heather, and she absolutely loved it. She got emotional when we shared about the Celestial room and how you can go there anytime to pray and feel the Spirit. She has been struggling a lot lately, and needed a new goal to focus on - the temple!
That's enough for this week, but we had so many unforgettable experiences and prayers of gratitude🙏
Love and Mizpah!

Matthew 25:
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
