Jan. 15, 2025 -- Bible Belt *Buckle*

Image
Rogersville, MO  Jan 9 - 15, 2025  Crazy week! I had to leave behind Sister Barrus and YSA, but am excited to be starting out in Rogersville! It's once again small and out in the boonies, and we are loving it!! Sister Going is such a hard worker and I'm so excited for the miracles we are going to see here. Highlights!  •     This week we were assured that no, we are not in the bible belt - we are in the bible belt...  buckle 🤣 Could not be more true. •     The last sisters were teaching Brent, and he is amazing!! We were able to bring his old coworker along- Bob gave him a Book of Mormon probably 10 years ago, and I imagine it must be pretty amazing for Bob to watch him come full circle and prepare for baptism! •     There are always the most interesting miracles God places in the path of those we teach. Years back Brent had some awful experiences and was driving alone for hours on end to get home to MO. A blizzard follow...

Jan. 8, 2025 -- Doorstep Croissants

Springfield, MO  Jan 2 - 8, 2025  Out knocking doors we get a ride variety of responses. Sometimes you meet Christians, other times satanists. Sometimes they yell through the door, then other times they slam it in your face. Sometimes they've been prepared by God and need a message, other times they just need a prayer. Only if you're very very lucky will they peek their head out and say: "no, but would you like a ham and cheese croissant?"🥐🙏 This week has been absolutely wonderful, we've been getting a hang of YSA and working so well off of each other. Which of course means... it's about time for transfers!! After just one transfer together here in YSA, Sister Barrus and I are BOTH leaving!! I'm excited to finish my mission off in Rogersville, but oh man sad to leave so soon!!  Highlights! •     Sister McCrary from PV10 (my home ward) will be taking my place, which is such a tender mercy! I am confident the area is in good hands! •     I'm ...

Jan. 1, 2025 -- Walking with Jesus

Springfield, MO  Dec 26 - Jan 1, 2025 (?!)  Happy New Year!! I can't wait to see what 2025 brings!!🎉   It's already off to a good start. Highlights!  •     Okay WOW. I can't communicate my excitement through email, but let me tell you about our guy Alex. Saturday night we knocked on his door and he pretty much said he had been waiting for us. He saw us a couple of days before, but we never knocked his door. Eventually he went inside but felt the reassurance that "they will be back". We shared the story of Alma the Younger and he felt that is was about him. We told him God loved him and he said "I know. That's why he sent you back".       He never texted us back about church the next day, so we knocked on his door (and this never happens) and he woke up and immediately got ready and said he was coming!! He loved it. Being Christian, coming to church, it's all so different than the crazy life he is leaving behind. He's scared, but he...

Dec. 25, 2024 -- Happy Birthday Jesus

Springfield, MO  Dec 19 - 25  Merry Christmas everyone!! I'm so grateful for this time to celebrate Christ's birth, the greatest gift of all❤️🎄💫 Highlights! •     After a wonderful morning of talking to family, we got to spent Christmas on our Bishop's farm! It was beautiful and we had a wonderful time feeding the cows and lighting a bonfire haha. I'm so grateful to have one more Christmas as a missionary, and can't wait to go share the good word tonight! •     MAJOR MIRACLES from past areas. Jason got baptized!! He just called the Elders up and said he was ready this weekend. We got to video call in! It took like 30 minutes, a lot of trial and error, and an extra guy in the font to actually perform the baptism - but he did it!! And Lisa quit smoking and Misty from Har-Ber went to church and is taking lessons again! •     We got to participate in some wonderful Christmas service this week! We took a sweet little girl and her dad t...

Dec. 18, 2024 -- Powerful, Podium, and other means of Exclamation

Image
Springfield, MO  Dec 12 - 18, 2024  Instead of avoiding slang, missionaries tend to come up with their own. When the YSA gang got sick of our mission leader Jack picking up on all their words, they came up with their own. Instead of being  simply powerful , every exclamation this week has been  straight podium  *complete with hand gestures* So buckle up, because this was a seriously podium week. Highlights! •     We got to take V to the temple!! This guy is amazing. He just wants to know everything and you can feel the Spirit surrounding him. Even before meeting with missionaries he visited numerous temples just to feel the Spirit on the grounds and ponder. And if he loved that so much then, just imagine how he felt stepping inside. It's great to see it from fresh eyes, this is something so miraculous we get to be a part of. So happy for V, no doubt he will be back very soon! •     So... backing up our newly replaced car (with a bac...
