Jan. 1, 2025 -- Walking with Jesus
Springfield, MO
Dec 26 - Jan 1, 2025 (?!)
Happy New Year!! I can't wait to see what 2025 brings!!π It's already off to a good start.
Highlights!
• Okay WOW. I can't communicate my excitement through email, but let me tell you about our guy Alex. Saturday night we knocked on his door and he pretty much said he had been waiting for us. He saw us a couple of days before, but we never knocked his door. Eventually he went inside but felt the reassurance that "they will be back". We shared the story of Alma the Younger and he felt that is was about him. We told him God loved him and he said "I know. That's why he sent you back".
He never texted us back about church the next day, so we knocked on his door (and this never happens) and he woke up and immediately got ready and said he was coming!! He loved it. Being Christian, coming to church, it's all so different than the crazy life he is leaving behind. He's scared, but he wants to turn his life around and have God on his side. He told us to not ever ever let him go! I'm so excited for this guy, and know it was absolutely no coincidence - God is leading the work and changing the hearts.
• Ray also came to church for the first time this week! He wasnt scared off by the 2nd hour lesson about just about every commandment and doctrine, asked questions in class, and went to talk to Bishop afterwards. In which conversation he said he planned to become a regular here.π
• Continuing to enjoy the small things. Things like youth music, $1 taco Tuesdays, and chair soccer on P-day:)
I loved this quote Alex brought up, and hopefully I'm saying it right - "Tell me who you walk with and I'll tell you who you are". The people you surround yourself with say a lot about who you are and who you are becoming. It reminded me of the song "I will walk with Jesus". Who better could you be with, and therefore, become like?
"Behold my Spirit is upon you, wherefore all thy words will I justify; and the mountains shall flee before you, and the rivers shall turn from their course; and thou shalt abide in me, and I in you; therefore walk with me."
Moses 6:34
