Dec. 18, 2024 -- Powerful, Podium, and other means of Exclamation
Springfield, MO
Dec 12 - 18, 2024
Instead of avoiding slang, missionaries tend to come up with their own. When the YSA gang got sick of our mission leader Jack picking up on all their words, they came up with their own. Instead of being simply powerful, every exclamation this week has been straight podium *complete with hand gestures* So buckle up, because this was a seriously podium week.
Highlights!
• We got to take V to the temple!! This guy is amazing. He just wants to know everything and you can feel the Spirit surrounding him. Even before meeting with missionaries he visited numerous temples just to feel the Spirit on the grounds and ponder. And if he loved that so much then, just imagine how he felt stepping inside. It's great to see it from fresh eyes, this is something so miraculous we get to be a part of. So happy for V, no doubt he will be back very soon!
• So... backing up our newly replaced car (with a backer, mind you) we managed to get in a fight with a pole. And the pole won. But! It meant talking to a repair guy who was so down to talk to "real deal mormons" from UT. He's heard about the temple from a Facebook friend, and has been wanting to visit a church service! Blessing in disguise.
• Ellie!! Oh my goodness. The sisters taught her before we came, and we had been so worried about her. She's facing a lot of opposition, anti, and different pulls. When we finally got to meet she was so open and shared her struggles and how she is praying so hard but God is taking his time with an answer. The next time we met we asked her where she was at, and if she believes what we are teaching is true. She bore the most beautiful testimony, and said, you know what - yes. God hasn't given her a big answer but she blew us away and is taking a huge leap of faith.
While it feels true every time, I've stopped being able to say that any one of our friends are "the most elect person I've ever met" because God has just prepared so many. He calls out to every single person, and invites all who will listen to his voice to join his fold. Some he has been preparing for years, planning the trip, the guests, and the timing to perfection. Then others just jump on the train as it pulls away from the station - and he takes them too:)
"And now I say unto you that the good shepherd doth call after you; and if you will hearken unto his voice he will bring you into his fold, and ye are his sheep"
