Sept. 11, 2024 -- A Few Wrong Turns (Salem)

 Salem, MO 

Sept. 5th - 11th, 2024

Waiting for reality to hit, because right now I am living the dream. Salem is my happy place. If I think about it too long I start to tear up, I didn't know it was possible to love one place and one people so much. 

When Sister Greene and I told someone in our last area where we were going he described it well: "Rolla is a much needed bathroom stop, and Salem a wrong turn"😂 It's this tiny little town in the middle of nowhere, and those who live here are in the most humble of circumstances. And they have the biggest hearts. It sounds like it's had a bad rap from the missionaries and members, but we are so excited to give this little place all we've got.

We only have a branch here, in a very small church building. All types of people, though there aren't many of us. And they are so welcoming and excited for us to be here! When one of the Sisters saw us she handed us a bag of cookies and just started crying - she was so happy to have sisters.

And my companion!! Oh my goodness I love Sister Brinkerhoff. She's got the most amazing testimony and is so eager to go out and share it. We talked the entire way here (and mind you, it was a drive of 4+ hours) and I absolutely love her.

I have absolutely loved it here but I have sure missed Centerton and the people there. As we parted we shared this verse with Tom, and how when we return this is the reunion we pray for.

Alma did rejoice exceedingly to see his brethren; and what added more to his joy, they were still his brethren in the Lord; yea, and they had waxed strong in the knowledge of the truth; for they were men of a sound understanding and they had searched the scriptures diligently, that they might know the word of God. Alma 17:2

Centerton, AR May 16 - 22, 2024 Ian got baptized this week!!😆 It was such a special day for him, and he had great support from the Deacons and the ward. Mar. 13, 2024 -- Golden Hour🙌

Centerton, AR  March 7th - 13th This week Wyatt was baptized!! What an incredible day. He bore his testimony at the end and shared his story. The spirit was so strong, and it is clear that God has great plans for him. The next day he received the greatest gift for his birthday, the Gift of the Holy Ghost😊 It was so cool to see the proud faces of the brothers Wyatt has met as they watched him make this step. They loved him as soon as they met him, and so many were quick to invite him to dinners and gatherings. It is never to late to be a missionary. Highlights! •     Got to be involved with a service organization called Sleep in Heavenly Peace, where they make beds for kids who don't have them. Feb. 28, 2024 -- Where's Gary

Centerton, AR  Feb 22 -28, 2024 While I may not have any crazy stories to share, this week - and every week - is full of tiny little miracles. Some people might call them coincidences, but I know they are miracles:) Tiny miracles/Highlights! •     After our visit, our friend Prakash drove to a neighbors and we sat in the car outside of his house for a good while planning where to go next. Suddenly Sister Thayn notes we should probably go before he gets back, and no joke as soon as I start driving his headlights turn the corner😂 The timing was crazy. •     Couldn't find my wallet, until the next morning when someone had left it untouched on our windshield. •     One of our friends is turning his life to God. He had a court case after someone attacked him and texted us right after saying that God told him to forgive his oppressor, and he did. •     Wyatt!
