Oct. 9, 2024 -- Amen, Hallelujah

Salem, MO

Oct. 3rd - 9th, 2024

I love the way people of other faiths worship around here. The way they sing with their whole souls. The resounding Amens when they agree with something the preacher said. It was so much fun watching conference with our friend Justin, seeing this soft spoken guy nodding along, quoting scripture, and glorifying Christ in our quiet little chapel. And I think there's a lot I can take from that. After all, Elder Kearon talked about this church as the church of joy! 🙏 Amen, Hallalujah.

Highlights
•     When we first got to our area we got a text from the Relief Society President saying that Jo, who had been attending church of her own accord, decided she wants to be baptized. We finally met with her and her family and wow they are amazing! She is so down to earth but teared up many times as we taught the restoration. She's so ready for this.
•     Our truck privileges were revoked, and we have been demoted to a car :'( But it can handle the Wilsons driveway - so it can handle anything.
•     The spirit works!! All of our plans fell through last night and we were left with nowhere to go. I had the faintest idea we should go visit our friend Jennifer. She didn't answer, which was no surprise. It was 7:30 at night, and she can't get to the door unless family is home. But I've heard so many stories of promptings, and how it's not always for the reason you think. My companion and I didn't feel prompted to knock any doors, but as we walked back to our we car saw a light on in the last apartment. Why not?
Laura came out with her dog just at that moment. She had just gotten home from work and eagerly invited us in. There she turned off her thriller series and listened as we taught the Restoration. She asked questions, shared experiences, and even played us a favorite Christian song. Again and again I am amazed at how God knows exactly where his children are and when they need him!

Lastly, we were talking to our new member Barbara about some of her family. She really wants to share the gospel with them, and we asked why, "why do you want them to be a part of this?" She hesitated before answering "well... because they are a part of us"

I love that phrase. They are a part of us. What better reason could there be?

Love and Mizpah!
