Aug. 21, 2024 -- Dave's Rock Band

 Centerton, AR

August 15 - 21, 2024

This week we've been able to do lots of service! We had a pretty wild storm on the night of a Hot Air Balloon festival. There wasnt any organized service, but we showed up just in time to excavate a booth that was destroyed. By which I mean we dug up polished rocks for the greater part of an hour. Everyone was so grateful for our makeshift team of helpers - missionaries, prisoners in uniform on a work order, and this random guy named Cody who likes volunteering.

Highlights!
•     We got an online referral from Davis, and were surprised when he responded to our text and was super excited for us to come visit! Imagine our greater surprise when Davis answered the door with a blank stare having no idea what we were talking about. We texted 'him' right after and this was the response we got: "sorry it was his birthday". I'm not even mad😂
•     Had an awesome lesson with Tom, who had read and furiously highlighted 1 and 2 Nephi in the days since we saw him last! He practically taught us the truthfullness of the Book of Mormon, while we eagerly nodded along. Every time he explained something he would say "think about that.." and 2 seconds later "times up". He's got strong opinions and lots to say, but an open heart.
•     Vicki showed up at church unexpectedly! He isn't Christian but wants to go for his daughter, Bluey, who is "half-Christian." She is also 1 year old. Such a cool dad.

For a quick spiritual thought, I found this verse I absolutely love, where Mormon is writing to his son. After pleading with the Lord to take care of him, he counsels Moroni to do the same in behalf of those around him - "pray for them, my son." I know that God hears and answers these prayers! If you don't know what to do for someone - pray for them. Trust that they are in His hands, and he "will keep [them] through... to the end"

"I am mindful of you always in my prayers, continually praying unto God the Father in the name of his Holy Child, Jesus, that he, through his infinite goodness and grace, will keep you through the endurance of faith on his name to the end." Moroni 8:3
