Aug. 7, 2023--Talk Shows and Camels

Hello!

Here in Logan there is a lot of wildlife: wild frogs and snipes, wild horses and cows, wild buffalo and camels. Okay... maybe not all wild but I did see camels in one of the neighborhood pastures! It is such a beautiful area to be doing my home MTC.

This might be the most cliche missionary email, but what a wonderful week!! Even online, MTC has been such a powerful experience. I have felt Jesus Christ guiding my life and have grown so much over the past week. Monday night I met my district, and we have had classes and devotionals together all week. I couldn't be happier about my district family, they are all such wonderful examples to me and so much fun to be around. My district consists of Sister Larson, Sister Rice, Sister Johnson, Elder Blake, Elder Hacking, Elder Winn, Elder Binggeli, Elder Frank, Elder Taylor, Elder Montgomery, and Elder Gold -I'm sure you won't remember those names but this way I can look back myself :). I can't wait to meet them in person this Wednesday! My companion, Sister Larson, grew up in Arizona and graduated from USU last year. I wouldn't want to be with anyone else and am so excited she will be going to the same mission as I am!!

Highlights!
- Sister Taylor and I had our first HOA teaching appointment. I think our lesson on the Restoration went pretty well!
- I had the chance to interview a member of my ward, she shared some wonderful thoughts about her experience as a convert and a missionary.
- Went to the Logan temple with my siblings to do baptisms!
- One of my neighbors puts on a radio talk show all night to scare the racoons away from his crops. Running past that always makes my day.πŸ˜‚
- Something that stood out to me in class is that everyone here has already chosen Christ. My job is only to remind them why :)
- I don't know how hard it hit in Ogden, but here in Logan we had one of the craziest rainstorms I've ever seen! It was pounding hailstones, and the lightning would dramatically light up the whole sky. Hopefully I'm in for more of that in Arkansas.
- Did I mention how awesome my district is? Although I don't love zoom breakout rooms it was a great chance to get to know them one on one. Reading their testimonies also brought a really cool spirit and experience.

I'm so grateful for this wonderful opportunity to share the Gospel and come closer to Christ. Something I noticed this week was that the times that I am the most out of my comfort zone are the times that the Lord blesses me with the most wonderful experiences :) Know that when the Lord asks you to do difficult things, He will bless and amplify your smallest efforts. Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." He is confident in you, and will be by your side every step of the way. Thank you all for your love and support!!

And Mizpah; for he said, the Lord be the watchtower between me and thee, when we are absent one from another. (Gen. 31:49)
