Nov. 27, 2024 -- Old Souls
Springfield, MO
Nov 21 - 27, 2024
Last Thursday may have been the saddest day of my life. There were a lot of tears and I sure miss Sister Brinkerhoff and Salem! Springfield YSA has got to be the polar opposite, yet it's absolutely amazing. It's a crazy area to shotgun into, with limitless complexes to knock, MSUs huge campus, and YSA events every night. We haven't a clue what we are doing but our members are amazing and taking good care of us haha.
And I'm training Sister Barrus!! I love her to death, she's got a beautiful testimony and we laugh so much together. It's gonna be a awesome transfer.
Highlights!
• Brother Wilson stopped by with a early Christmas gift from his wife. Then he gave us photocopies of a story he had told us about from his George Washington book. Tears welled up in his eyes as we read the excerpt out loud and said goodbye. It was the most tender moment ever.❤️
• These YSA kids are awesome. Apparently I'm not on their cool level yet though- as Sister Barrus keeps calling me old😂 (I don't blame her, I can't keep up with the slang, mission veil is real, and my favorite show is the Great British Bakeoff)
• V!! He bought a Book of Mormon online 3 years ago (to avoid the missionaries) and of his own accord found it to be true and decided he would be baptized. I've never met someone so excited for the temple, I wish I could quote him but this year simply could not go by faster. He wants to be endowed so bad, but first we get to accompany him to do baptisms!
• We texted Ryan and he showed up at church! The members called him a ghost because he is so quiet haha, but super open. He said he wants to be baptized!
Our mission President's favorite phrase "eternally uncomfortable" has taken on a new meaning out here. I'm in over my head but grateful for continual opportunities to grow and try to become better! I know God has a reason for everything, and I can't wait to find out what that is.
Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not.
