Sept. 27, 2023 -- Cereal Box Original
Hello from Har-Ber!!
This week we got to go on exchanges!! I went out with Hermana Ohki and it was such a great experience<3 Her area is Spanish so I perfected the smile and nod while she taught. After the mission I will definitely start trying to learn Spanish - please hold me to it! Thankfully the members we met were bilingual so I was able to participate in lessons with some really amazing people. There is so much to learn from every single person, it was such a cool experience being with Hermana Ohki and the people in her area:)
One of the members felt that we should visit one of their neighbors - we knocked on their door and no one answered, went to the next house and the guy said "I better not". As we started walking to our car he ran out yelling "girls! girls! My son would like to talk with you!" We met Garrett and he is so cool, he loves the Bible (even quizzes people at school about it and gives out bracelets for anyone who knows the answer!) and wanted to come to church on Sunday. (Anyways that didn't work out... I think someone must have convinced him out of it BUT it was still such a cool experience and I'm praying he will reach out when he's ready)
Highlights!
-Some of the members raise rabbits (for purposes I'd rather not consider) that we got to hold!
- One of our friends has had a lot of health problems holding her back. When we stopped by yesterday we planned to just check in but felt inspired to teach the restoration and invite her to be baptized!! She said yes!!๐
- Played ninja with some super cute kids
- Sister Anderson wrote the most beautiful song about Jesus Christ.๐ https://fb.watch/nkn3nD7IF-/?mibextid=Nif5oz
- Together we wrote another pretty amazing song... from the back of a Life Cereal box. ๐คฃ Think of your favorite song and then multiply it by 7
- Our friend Misty decided she didn't want to continue learning about our church but still loves talking with us. Last week we ran into her at TacoBell and this week at Office Depot of all places and she was so happy to see us. I don't know what it means but I don't believe in coincidences ;)
I absolutely love the ward down here, they are all so welcoming to us and more importantly to our friends. It was so cool having our friends Don and Reagan at church and seeing the ward make them feel like family. Next time you are at church (or school or any event) look around for someone who might be new or alone bring them in and help them belong! That welcoming kindness has the most amazing ripple effect. I love this poem President Monson quoted:
"I have wept in the night
For the shortness of sight
That to somebody’s need made me blind;
But I never have yet
Felt a tinge of regret
For being a little too kind."
Love and Mizpah❤️
