Aug. 14, 2023--Cactus Cooler (3/10)

Hello from Provo!! 

On Wednesday my family dropped me off at the Provo MTC. Being here has felt a little surreal but so incredible! Here at the MTC the days are slow but time flies! It was so cool to meet my district and companion in person. Us being placed together is no coincidence and I have laughed with, cried with, and learned so much from every one of them.

On the first night we had an amazing devotional called Character of Christ. It was about how Christ always focused outside of himself. He always put the needs of others before His own. I'm so glad that was one of our first devotionals because trying to apply it has helped me so much here. I've stopped worrying so much about how tired I am, alone time I wish I had, how I look, how hard teaching is - and started serving with joy and purpose by looking outside of myself. It's made this such a happier and easier experience!

Highlights:
- The Elders are crazy about Cactus Cooler soda and have been making a tower of them. The Sisters rate it a solid 3/10
-A new addition to the MTC curriculum is Temple worship, and I get the chance to do every ordinance during my stay here. I'm so excited that they added that emphasis, this week I had the blessing of doing Baptisms, Initiatories, and an Endowment!
- We had two more practice teaching appointments this week. One of them was pretty rough - Mark had a lot of questions and we went down a couple rabbit holes trying to answer them. Overall the lesson went well, we just had a lot to laugh about after😂
- We share a room with the other sisters in our district and two sisters on their way to Korea! It's a good group, and unlike the Elders no one sleep talks (We get a good night's sleep... but they have better stories)
- I'm living the high life- MTC serves (and I eat) fresh pineapple almost every meal. 

Something that has been emphasized time and time again this week is the importance of the Book of Mormon. It's so incredible that we have this additional knowledge of Jesus Christ!! I'd encourage you all to open up the Book of Mormon this week and read more about Christ. The more I read the more I want to learn, I'm so grateful for it!

Har-Ber Springdale AR January 18th-24th, 2024 Hey!! I hope you are all having a wonderful week. We've kept busy here, so straight to the highlights! •     Parul really wants both of her kids to be baptized, but one of them doesn't need to be (we believe it is only necessary for those who are old enough and able to understand the commitment). We were worried she wouldn't let Wendy be baptized if Patrick couldn't, but it suddenly clicked for her that we aren't excluding him, he is simply whole and pure already😊 •     We knocked into our member Sandy's son, he wasn't super interested, but we mentioned it to her. Out with the Swamp Kittens -- Jan. 31, 2024

Har-Ber Springdale, AR Jan 25th - 31st, 2024 Another great week here in Springdale! I've been working with Parul and her family pretty much since starting and they have come so far. This week they sat in first hour of church (sacrament meeting) for the first time! That was a big steppingstone, Parul has been so worried about it knowing how crazy her kinds can be. It went wonderfully and everyone had a great experience. Wendy is on track to be baptized on the 17th!! Highlights! •     Hit 6 months today!!🎉 •     Saw a live possum "swamp kitty" crossing the street •     We had records of someone the missionaries had visited and had a pretty bad interaction with.
